Technical Committees
A number of Technical Committees are active within CEAS. The committees consist of professionals and experts active in organizing events, conducting reviews, exchange information. Membership of these groups are a good mix of subject matter (and recognized) experts in their field from various nations and CEAS member societies, representing industry, research establishments, agencies and academia. The TCs are divided into two sections:
> Aeronautical Branch
> Space Branch
The committees:
> increase global visibility of European aviation competences (sciences), aviation events and publications
> support knowledge exchange between subject matter experts (at an European level)
> encourage scientists to publish the outcome of their research in the CEAS Aeronautical and Space Journals as significant European peer-reviewed journals
> and enhance scientific and technical quality of events / conferences by aggregating expertise (speakers, program committee membership).

CEAS Rotorcraft Committee (RC)
Who?
The Rotorcraft Committee is a group of individuals from a broad range of rotorcraft industries, research establishments, operators, governmental agencies and universities of the constituent member state societies. Most of the members are holding leading positions within the organisations where they are employed.
Why?
The Rotorcraft Committee has been formed with the aim of promoting the importance of rotorcraft and to encourage & foster interest in this field.
What?
The scope of topics covered by the Rotorcraft Committee includes typical rotorcraft related design issues (like aero-, flight mechanics, dynamics & acoustics), airworthiness (review of new legislation), flight & mission operations (ranging from flight safety to accident investigations), maintenance support (covering health & usage monitoring) & pilot training (both knowledge based & skills driven).
The committee supports the organisation of the European Rotorcraft Forum ERF and the publication of peer-reviewed ERF papers in its CEAS journal. Furthermore, special interest is focused on the motivation of young people to be further engaged in rotorcraft related activities.
European Rotorcraft Forum ERF
The European Rotorcraft Forum (https://rotorcraft-forum.eu/) is one of the premier events in the industry’s calendar bringing together manufacturers, research establishments, academia, operators and regulatory agencies to discuss advances in research, development, design, manufacturing, testing and operation of rotorcraft.
The Forum takes place annually across Europe, rotating around the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Russia. The ERF is being organized by the various national aeronautical societies and co-batched by CEAS. The first ERF was held in Southampton, England, in 1975.
Best paper award
The Cheeseman Award for Best Paper prepared for and presented at the European Rotorcraft Forum ERF has been established to recognize the author(s) who has/have prepared and presented the most significant technical paper as judged and selected by his/her peers. While the quality of the archived paper is paramount in the selection process, the quality of the presentation of the material at the Forum must also be taken into account. The selected paper is presented at the next Forum of the American Helicopter Society AHS.
The award consists of a plaque from the European Rotorcraft Forum and an honorarium that will pay for travel by one author from a point within Europe to the site of the AHS Forum. The Honorarium is provided by the subject national organizing committee. Complimentary registration and accommodations for the selected author are provided by the AHS.
The Padfield Award has been established to recognize the author(s) not older than 30 years of age who has/have prepared and presented the most significant technical paper as judged and selected by his/her peers. The award consists of a plaque from the European Rotorcraft Forum.
Proceedings
The ERF International Committee is providing free access to the available papers presented at the past ERF conferences. Two years after each ERF, the conference papers are uploaded to the repository.

High-Speed Vehicle Science and Technology Committee
The High-Speed Vehicle Science and Technology HiSST TC promotes open discussion between research institutions, academia and industry from around the globe on research and development of enabling technologies for supersonic to high-speed vehicles.

Conferences
The HiSST TC organizes its international conference every 18 months.> HiSST 1 st international conference 2018: in honour of TsAGi’s 100th Anniversary, the inaugural location of this international conference was Moscow (Russia). HiSST 2018 (https://events.tsagi.com/en/hisst-2018/), supported by CEAS, took place from 26–29 November 2018.
